Life goal: I'm going to be an exorcist...

His eyes opened slowly and painfully as the light of the sun shown brightly through the porthole of the ship he was on. Sitting up and stretching, Phoxalyn was glad for the few hours of rest he’d gotten on the ship. The ride over had been peaceful and gently rocked him to sleep not more then two minutes after he’d lain down. A gentle rapping came at his door as the ship pitched to starboard slightly and the engines deep whirring petered off to a low thrum that coursed through the ship.

“We’re here.” Said a terse voice on the other side of the door; probably one of the ships crew.

Phoxalyn stretched again letting out a toothy, wolfish yawn as he swung his legs out from under the covers and over the bedside and stood up. Ruffling his hair back to its natural chaotic look he slipped on a white button shirt and a new pair of black dress pants with dark recreational shoes. He examined himself in the small mirror on the side of his room tugging lightly at the collar comfortably secured around his neck.

‘I’m going to be an exorcist…’ He mused in his own mind unsure of whether that thought should make him happy.

Another knock came at the door.
“Hurry up, sir. I’m to escort you out.” The terse voice said again, this time carrying a hint of annoyance for being made to wait.

“Sorry! I’m hurrying.” Phox called back through the door while stuffing his bag closed, full of only clothing, nothing of his former life. Phox opened the door to be led briskly up on deck and off the ship to wait. Now he could see it, the object of his travels, the Black Order base rising above the horizon. The building was truly intimidating and the aura was pervasive; it would be a sorry akuma who would attack this base.

His feet took him where the boat could not and soon the shadow of the building loomed over him. He stopped in front of a massive double door who glared at him intensely.

“Welcome to the Black Order Head Quarters! Let me examine you first. X-Ray Examination!” The gate scanned him until it seemed satisfied. “Hmm, you seem human. PASS!” Phox was relieved, he’d never thought that one of the people around him could have been an akuma in disguise, but he pushed that thought aside and waited for further instruction.

"Your presence is expected... Someone will be here to greet you shortly."

(ooc: its late but i don't want to keep people waiting)

White was pushed to the door. She was freaking PUSHED to the door by a random group of researchers who seemed afraid to go and fetch the usual people that greeted newcomers. If she remembered correctly, Komui said that it was because she herself was recently new and would most likely make the newcomer feel better. White herself had, hesitantly, agreed and then found herself pushed to the main entranceway.

Pushed outside, the rather spacy girl took in the newcomer before nodding her head slowly. "W-welcome to the Black Order," she said, words coming out slowly. "I'm White Mahogany, a fellow exorcist..." She trailed off. Was that last part really necessary?

Come on White, Grey snapped in her mind. Greet the guy, take him in, you know the drill! You've gone through this yourself!

"I know that Grey," White said, crossing her arms. "I'd like to see you come out here and talk with him!" White, in typical White fashion, was unaware of her audience.

"Hehe," Phox couldn't help but let a bemused chuckle out as a rather cute girl was literally shoved out of the doors which had scanned him just moments earlier. He quickly regained composure while retaining a small smirk as he listened to her stumble over her welcome and introduction in a soft voice.

"Thank you, its a pleasure to meet you Miss Mahogany..." He paused, puzzled as she spoke clearly to no one.

"Who, might i ask, is Grey?" He said looking around feeling quite foolish. Maybe she had an ear-piece or something but the way she was talking made Phox feel like he was missing something.

White flushed, a sharp gasp escaping her as she covered her face in embarrassment. "I'm sorry!" she said. She took a few calming breaths, gaining her composure before she spoke again, "Grey is my brother...kind of. He's in my mind, along with my innocence, Champion."

Oh....great, are you going to spew our life story? Grey snapped irritably. White frowned, a rather dark look on her face.

"Will you just stop talking for a little bit, Grey?" she said crossly. Grey humphed. White shook her head. "I-I apologize again, really, he's....Oh...why am I here again?"

To welcome the new exorcist.

"Oh! Right...Silly, forgetful me!" White gave a small laugh. "Well, Mister...umm...pardon me, but what's your name?"

*Yan was near the place and walked up to them, she had her run away clothes on and she didn't have the jacket on so it was hard to tell if she was an exorcist or not to the boy. she too looked cute too ( XP ).

She had over heard them talking and took out a notebook and pen and wrote the new persons name in old English then ' Does any one know Japanese or Chinese, Arabic may be?' then turned it to face them. Her gold eyes turned to Phoxy, she smiled a bit.*

He chuckled lightly as she got embarrassed. Stepping closer, lightly and soundlessly, to her and extending his hand, he said, "My name is Phoxalyn Rosenthal. You may call me Phox if you want to. Its a pleasure to meet the both of you."
He smiled softly as he spoke letting his blue eyes scan her up and down. He quickly understood that her query to thin air was to her other self.

'Duel personalities... and aware of each other... I wonder how many more interesting people i will meet?'

"I don't quite know if I'm exorcist material but i hope to work along side you soon enough." Phox spoke sincerely, taking a step back.

"So what do i have to do next?" He asked but paused short as another person entered his 'territory' and he turn to look at this new comer. The door wasn't reacting to her so he assumed it was safe for now. After determining she wasn't a threat he read her note before being captured with curiosity by her golden shaded eyes.

'How many times have i failed a foreign language course... and when i could need it most.' He mused in his own mind before gesturing to the new girl for the paper and pen. 'If she can write, then she can read... maybe'

"Do you know her? Is she part of the order?" He asked at White.

"This is Yan, a fellow exorcist," White said. "She's very nice...Except for the language barrier..." White gnawed on her lip some, shyness flashing in her eyes. "W-well Phoxa..Phoxlyn...Can I just call you Phox, please?"

Just pronounce his name wrong, stop being such a pushover! Grey snapped. Or do you really have a problem saying 'Phoxalyn Rosenthal'? White's expression turned sour again, annoyed at how Grey effortlessly rolled the name of his tongue. It wasn't her problem she stuttered when nervous!

"You'll make a great exorcist," White said after she mentally shoved a protesting Grey to the back of her mind. "Now, we have to head to Hevlaska. There she'll examine your innocence." White flinched as Champion started to give off a dull throb in her head, as if trying to reach out and say 'Hi' to the two innocence nearby. Really, her own innocence could be such a child.

* Yan wrot on ger note book again it said 'I'm coming to, and vary nice to meet you' and faced the book at them and bowed to Phoxy*

"Haha. I guess i'll just have to carry around a pad of my own to talk to her when i see her." Phoxalyn bowed back at Yan suddenly getting the urge to ruffle her hair but restraining himself.

'Hehe she's so cute!' He was barely containing his wolfish nature to tackle all cuteness and nuzzle it to death.

"You may call me Phox. Is there anything you prefer i call you by, Miss Mahogany?" He asked getting his mind back on track. He was here to become an exorcist not to chase girls around like a love-sick pup. Besides his innocence was pulsing around his neck reacting insistently to not only the innocence around him but something inside the black order building. This something was practically calling out to him.

"H-helveska? Will it hurt?" He asked suddenly worried by an unexpected examination.

"Ah, you can just call me White...Miss Mahogany just makes me feel old," White mumbled. "And Hevlaska...she doesn't hurt. Not at all!" White was ready to go back into the building when she froze up. She had completely forgotten where Hevlaska was, even though she had to go back there a couple of days ago to check on her innocence thanks to a severe headache that wouldn't go away.

Move aside, Grey growled. White's eyes closed, then opened again to the red of Grey's.

"Follow me," he said tersely.

Grey, be polite, White reprimanded. Grey snorted.

"Whatever..."

*Yan fallowed, while looking at her notebook she turned her head to look at Phoxy and smiled then turned to a page then faced it to Phoxy it said ' I understand English, I just can not speak it' it was writing in old English.

She smiled again and pointed to her self with her Index finger " Yang-chan " She said in the best English she could do but it had a vary strong Japanese act-sent*

"I apologize White. I will call you that from now on." He said averting his eyes from here. He didn't want to make her feel old just being respectful to someone who was senior to him as an exorcist. He followed her into the building keeping pace three steps back. As she froze for a split second he noticed the palpable change of demeanor come over her.

"Grey?" He asked but quickly followed with a "Never mind." as the terse 'Follow me' command told him all he needed. Grey was the complete opposite of White.

'But then again if there was a White and Grey, shouldn't there be a Black.' He mused as he followed in his own mind.

He focused back on Yang and what she'd written. He would have to make an effort to learn some of her more natural languages.

"Phoxalyn." He said back to her smiling and pointing at himself in turn; this time following the urge to ruffle her hair lightly, she was being too cute not to.

Grey, stop being rude, they're fellow exorcists, White pleaded.

"And I don't want any of them getting close to you," Grey said. "It's bad enough you forget people's names after an hour. I don't want you to get into any mess that could hurt you!"

....you're jealous, aren't you, White said matter-of-factly. You're jealous because this is the most Champion has EVER let us be open with anybody and you're afraid. Grey scoffed, this imperical air around him as he continued to speak.

"Jealous? Me? Nah, you got it all mixed up," Grey said. "The only way I'd be jealous of others is if they got to a cuter girl before me!"

And now you're just being embarrassing!

"Sue me."

Grey led them to where Hevlaska was with no outbursts after that little argument with White. "Here we are, don't worry, she doesn't bite for a gigantic talking...human snake head hybrid," he said. "Can I leave yet?"

No!

Grey flinched as Champion throbbed slightly. You're definitely jealous, Grey. You know you can't hide it from me.

Grey's only reply was, "Shut up, Champion."

Phox paused letting Grey mutter in his obvious argument with his sister who was probably riding shotgun now. He could feel the irritation from Grey and knew empathetically that he, himself, was the cause of the brother, sister tiff. He could only smile at how protective Grey was being of White and Phox wished that he could not have been an only child to have that kind of relationship with someone.

“Human snake hybrid thing? Well that’s an interesting description…” He said raising an eyebrow but not questioning it as he walked into the most expansive room he’d ever seen, period. He couldn’t see the ceiling nor floor only that of the platform on which he stood.

“Hello?” He asked to the darkness just beyond to be answered by a sharp throbbing from the innocence around his neck and a glowing creature seemingly floating closer.

((I had recently just opened up D-Grayman again, and realized I was spelling Hevlaska how they would pronounce instead of Hebraska. I feel silly now XD))

Grey watched as Hebraska approached the new exorcist, watching the examination with calculating eyes. It was obvious she would be examining him differently, as it seemed this newcomer's innocence was the necklace around his neck.

I can't wait to go on missions with him, White said excitedly. Grey shook his head. Until he could see what this exorcist could do, he wasn't going to allow White out anywhere near the guy. Phox wasn't like Collin or Candy, who Grey knew could keep their own in a fight.

Stop being so...so, I don't know what! White pleaded again. Both snapped out of their little squabble when Hebraska's voice echoed throughout the chamber.

She was huge! Or rather he innocence that made her body was. Grey could not have been more rude but more right in describing or at least in attempting to describe her as a human snake hybrid thing. She looked down at Phoxalyn almost motherly which surprised him. Which surprised him even more was that her voice resonated with everything in his ears and mind like a force of nature birthing words into existence one at a time without moving her mouth.

"Greetings young one. Shall we begin the examination immediately?" It was less of a question and more of a 'you-are-gonna-do-it-now-' statement. Phoxalyn's senses were going berserk and his territory and perception were even worse. His innocence was practically humming around his neck and increased in pitch as she drew closer. Tentacles reached out from Hevlaska and as if it were a sentient being his innocence reached back and with it his soul was bare before her as she enveloped him in a quiet light and her 'arms'. As she searched him, probing the bridge between himself and his innocence, he watched standing next to her incorporeal form in his mind and soul, as a vast structure unfolded before him. Chains stretching from the horizon to horizon of his soul pulled taught and stitched into a bridge between him and something off in the distance , on the other side.

"Well what are you waiting for?" The incorporeal form of Hevlaska was his size now and the blurry form of a woman older then him. "An invitation? Lets see what you can do on your own?" She looked onward at his innocence across the bridge. Phox began to will himself forward across the bridge, each step more arduous then the last. He got to a point where he felt like he was leaving the present behind and stepping into the future like moving through Jello until he was standing in front of a vertical black blade at the the entire chain bridge. The air here was saturated in energy enough to warp light around the blade, without knowing he was close enough to grasp it Phox wrapped his fingers around the handle-

-A sudden surge of energy and Hevlaska moved back a little letting the markings that were working their way up Phoxalyn's arm dissipate. The innocence around his neck had almost activated but was now calming down from its vibrating fervor.

"Innocence type: equipment. Location: collar around your neck. Current maximum synchronization rate 60%. Expected potential: Withheld until further notice. Battle potential: Offensive type, short-medium range, extremely useful. Good luck Phoxalyn. You will make a splendid exorcist. I look forward to watching your progress." Hevleska retreated back into the darkness leaving Phox stunned standing in the center of the platform.

*Yan watched as she began to think about her twin. she shuck her head side to side, tiring to forget but it didn't work that well. She looked at the people in the chairs and knew what they wanted from her, but she didn't say any thing.

Yan looked back at Phoxy as he came down " 60%...it's lower then mine, but safer then mine.." She whispered to her self in Japaneses then looked at the ground a bit sad.*

((Eeek! Sorry! I was out of town for a little bit...))

"Congratulations, Phox!" White said, having taken control again. She approached the other exorcist and pat him on the shoulder. "It's good to have another offensive type on the team! And you're synchronization rate is good as well!" She looked down a little, shuffling her feet.

"They didn't really give me one," she said. "I think it's because it all depends on my mentality with how my innocence works. I believe I'm really close to 100% but...Champion is the one who really decides..."

White flushed again, embarrassed, "Oh, look at me, babbling again like that...!!"

Honestly, Grey griped. Well, at least there's another offensive type to protect you when I'm busy...Miss Defensive type. White opted to not reply to Grey's comment.

He was shaking from the sudden surge and what he saw. What did she mean "expected potential withheld"? What the hell was that blade? Phox sighed visibly and with it the sudden ebb of power breathed out of him. His focus returned to the two spectators.

"...Well that was odd..." He said flatly not sure what to make of what just happened, though he did feel slightly proud of Hevleska's assessment of his innocence yet he understood that there was a ways to go.

Phox look at White as she went on and on and couldn't help but laugh, despite only just meeting her he could say that this was truly like her typical self.

"Hehe, Its perfectly alright. Whats next?" Phox was eager to get on to the next order of business so he could rest from his travles.

White nodded her head, "Right! You are assigned a room and then pretty much you wait until missions are assigned to you!" She started walking towards the exit, a small frown on her face.

"Oh, but sometimes you're assigned to boring things like just examining or scouting an area...kind of sad, really. I myself just got back from a simple mission in Paris," she looked down and started gnawing on her thumb. "Oh, but first, your room! Well, actually, just reporting in and all that! I can also show you the cafeteria! A lot of us gather there."

You're babbling again, Grey said. White immediately snapped her mouth shut.

Cafateria = Food... The singular thought went straight from his ears to his stomach which promptly grumbled loudly.

"Looks like we can go to the cafeteria." Phox said averting his eyes in embarrassment.

"Oh, then follow me!" White said. "Jerry cooks absolutely the best food that I've ever eaten! Ever!" White proceeded to exit Hebraska's chamber, her personality considerably chipper despite the rather melancholy look on her face.

* Yan fallowed, with a smile she would have to come back later. she walked beside Phoxy and held up her note book it said 'Agreed, he is the best cook, I love any food he makes' Yan had also said the words in a soft, kind tone while in Japanese. She had smiled while looking at him too...*
